Best Vitamins for Skin & Anti-Aging
Oral vitamins for skin appearance are a weaker case than topical formulations, and it's worth being upfront about that. Vitamin C has decades of dermatological research behind it, but most of the strongest evidence is for topical use — oral supplementation supports skin health as part of general nutrition rather than as a direct anti-aging treatment. Vitamin A's skin evidence follows a similar pattern, with topical retinoids far better studied than oral supplementation for appearance specifically. Vitamin E's case is the thinnest of the three; large cardiovascular trials found no benefit and some signal of harm at high doses, and its skin-specific human evidence is limited. None of these substitute for topical retinoid or vitamin C formulations where appearance is the goal.
